Villa Opuntia is a small and cosy unit, that consists of only 10 apartments and 1 studio.
When entering the hotel the spacious, design-furnished lobby is already the first impression of the pleasant and private atmosphere with which we like to encourage our guests to spend a relaxing and happy holiday.
Here the owner together with his team is at your disposal with hints for wonderful walks & tours, for typical restaurants that one not knowing the area would hardly discover, for sport activities or for shopping advice.
The reception is at your disposial every day from 08:00 AM to 07:00 PM.
Our small bar is a perfect meeting place to be acquainted with your fellow guests.
The med-style barbecue area is at our guests free disposal and could also become an ideal place for happy holiday memories.
We invite our guests to enjoy relaxing hours in our attractive library with world literature in German and English.
The swimming pool with solar heated freshwater, embedded in
700 m2 of subtropical garden, invites to enjoy the sunshine on the free sunbeds and sunshades.
To stay fit, Villa Opuntia offers a gym with an eliptic trainer, a multifunction fitness machine (Kettler-Classic) and a Finnish Tylo-sauna.
Guests who want to rent a car, can use our garage (extra fee) or a free open parking area.

Location
Hotel Villa Opuntia is situated in a quiet cottage area of Caniço de Baixo (Lower Caniço), a pleasant rural area, on a southfacing slope with uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and only a few minutes walking distance away from the next beach.
It takes a 15 minutes drive to Funchal in the west and to the airport in the east.
- from the aerport (AEROPORTO) take the motorway in direction FUNCHAL
- from FUNCHAL take the motorway in direction AEROPORTO
- leave the motorway at the exit CANICO / CANICO D.B. (number 16)
- turn left in direction to the shore (Estrada da Ponta Oliveira)
- pass the restaurant "KLENK'S CAFÉ" (ca. 500m)
- at the restaurant CERVEJARIA ALEMA (ca. 300m) (roadsign VILA OPUNTIA) turn right (Rua Bartolomeu Perestrelo)
- next road-junction turn left (ca. 150m) (roadsign HOTEIS) (Rua Francisco Santana)
- next road-junction turn left (ca. 30m)
- next road-junction turn right (ca 20m) (roadsign HOTEIS) (Rua Baden Powell)
- now you reach a T-junction (ca. 10m) (roadsign VILA OPUNTIA) turn right ( Rua da Falesia)
- at the end of Rua da Falesia you reach a car-park(ca. 300m).
- turn right into Rua Miradouro da Falésia where you can already see VILLA OPUNTIA (30m)
