A five-century old Oak tree, one of the oldest on the island, stands in gardens surrounded by cultivated farming lands of banana plantations and exotic fruit trees overlooking the sea.
Various buildings on the property which were the original farm houses surrounded by banana plantations and exotic fruit trees, have been rebuilt in their original traditional structure and are available for rural accommodation.
All houses have individual bathrooms and equipped kitchenettes. There are outdoor areas for barbequing and an ample private parking area.
The English speaking owners are present to see to your requests. This is the ideal place to enjoy contact with Nature and to enjoy the fruits in season cultivated on the farm. This is your peaceful getaway in a traditional farming community environment.

How to get there? - Quinta do Conde- Casa de Campo

For visitors who are renting a car andcoming to the farm from the airport:
The motorway is direct up to Ribeira Brava (see map: approximately half way along the south coast of island) on the motorway.
You only have to pay attention coming out of the last tunnel at the turn-off to Rib. Brava, to follow the signs, and to take care not to take the road to São Vicente.
At Ribeira Brava, the road curves down towards the sea. You go straight down to the roundabout entering the first tunnel to the right, so you do not actually go down to the coast at Ribeira Brava.
Then it is basically a direct route along the coastal road (passing through various tunnels under mountains) up until Arco da Calheta.
There are 2 roundabouts when you arrive at Arco da Calheta. At the first roundabout you turn right, then turn right again at the next roundabout and keep to your right (now driving in the direction to the east) to get to Quinta do Conde farm.
About half a kilometre up the road, at a Y junction, turn down the first road to the right, going down very steeply. You go down this road about 100 metres and you will see a burgundy-coloured sign on the post at the entrance, which reads "Rua do Conde" and a big old Palm tree at the second entrance. The name "Quinta do Conde" is on a burgundy-coloured sign on the column at the first entrance to the farm, on the right hand side. Turn right into our private parking space.
Note of interest: "Conde" means Count, as the property was established centuries ago by an English Count and his wife, the countess of Torrebella.
You may choose to travel on the old regional road when you are doing sightseeing, (the busses usually travel this way). It is much longer, and you arrive at the farm in the opposite direction, from the top, east, or mountain side. It is a more attractive drive for picnics, etc. The motorway is much quicker for access, not sightseeing, with lots of tunnels under mountains, if you just want to get to Funchal or the airport quickly.

Location
The estate is located on the sunny South-Western coast of Madeira Island, in the Council District of Arco da Calheta, a largely agricultural community. There is a small supermarket and the local bakery within a five minute walking distance. A larger supermarket and other shops and restaurants are are at a short five minute drive down to the coast. The sandy beach and man-made lagoon are suitable for swimming, sea sports and other activities. For lovers of paragliding and hang gliding, you may choose to practice these sports at Moledos, an area above our property and within easy reach by car.
