King of Spain comes to visit Madeira…

Coming to visit Madeira is the King of Spain, King Juan Carlos accompanied with Queen Sofia. They will arrive on the 30th of July and leaving on the 1st of August.

President of the republic of Portugal (Cavaco Silva) invites the king and queen of Spain to visit the Madeira Islands. On their visit to Madeira Islands they will be visiting the local and regional authorities and also various institutes in the region.

When King and Queen of Spain arrive they will be staying in Madeira, and then on the 1st of August they will be going to Porto Santo where they will fly to Madrid.

This will be a historic opportunity that could help Madeira and Spain create a more economic relationship and could help increase Madeira´s popularity, contributing for an increase in tourism.

The football player of Real Madrid and born in Madeira, Cristiano Ronaldo, could be making an appearance in the Kings visit to Madeira.

The visit from the kings of Spain will be a great way of promoting Madeira wine and embroidery. Throughout the kings visit to Madeira there will be a program filled with public acts; one of them being when the city council of Funchal awards the monarchy with the Gold medal of the city. The kings of Spain will be thanked by the IVBAM with bottles of special Madeira wine.

Also a part of their visit to Madeira, they will go to one of the highest cliffs in Madeira known as the Miradouro do Cabo Girão in Câmara de Lobos.
