São Vicente Caves are situated in São Vicente municipality, in the northern part of Madeira Island. These caves were inaugurated in 1996 and they were the first volcanic caves open to the public in Portugal.
It is one of the main tourist attractions in Madeira island. This is a well-known place among local people and tourists.
The aim of this place is to give visitors the chance of visiting and enrich their knowledge on Madeira roots and also its geological formation.
How to get there?
After arriving at Vila de São Vicente, in the direction Ribeira-Brava
– São Vicente
, you will find a car-park and right afterwards, a road on your right. Turn right and follow all the way to Sítio do Pé do Passo, where you will find the Caves.
