Windsurf in Madeira and Porto Santo Islands
Windsurf is a surface water sport that combines two elements which are surfing and sailing. This sport appeared mid 20th century.
Madeira Island’s mild climate and warm temperatures allows locals and visitors experiencing nautical sports and outdoors activities.
Windsurf is one of the most common nautical sport practiced on the island. The better place to practice this activity is in the southern coast of Madeira island, namely in Jardim do Mar, Paul do Mar and S. Vicente. There, windsurfing conditions are pretty good.
Besides these three places, there are also good beaches where windsurfing can be ridden, namely Funchal, Praia Formosa, Garajau, Reis Magos, Porto Novo, Santa Cruz, Machico, Caniçal, Calheta, Paúl do Mar.
Summer months are the best ones to windsurfers because the wind is stronger rather than winter months. However, winter months are advised for experienced windsurfers, because the wind chances rapidly and, thus, it requires windsurfing experience and technique.
At the end of the ride, why don’t you stay in Madeira Rural accommodations? It is the perfect place to rest. Check our website www.madeirarural.com.
