| Fortress of Ilhéu da Pontinha | ||
|
It is part of the pier of the city’s wharf, and is known as "Ilhéu da Pontinha". It is a small fortress, but its architecture is impressive, with an excellent location on a small island facing the harbour of Funchal. The set of buildings, recently open to visits are very interesting, enabling us to understand the several periods of construction. Also in this fortress, you can find one of the oldest English cranes, dating from 1845, and a restaurant with panoramic views over Funchal bay. |
