Fajã dos Padres

Fajã dos Padres has the shape of a small piece of land, at the bottom of a cliff with approximately 250 meters high, located in the southern coast of Madeira. The place owes its name to the fact that it once belonged to the priests of the Company of Jesus.

Fajã dos Padres can only be reached by sea, or by means of a modern scenic elevator.

The property became famous because of its Candia malmsey wine. Today, and besides the grapevines, a medley of subtropical species is cultivated at Fajã dos Padres, like mango, avocado, banana, as well as, although in smaller quantities, papaya, Surinam cherry, or passion fruit, among others.

Its particular geologic characteristics and climate, its beach, its colours, aromas and special flavours, makes Fajã dos Padres a very special place, offering to the guests of the small houses a truly natural living experience.

Other Activities

The seawater mild temperature, its calmness and its transparency makes the beach irresistible to the majority of the guests. A spacious solarium, equipped with beach chairs and parasols help enjoying the beach in full comfort.

Guests are welcome to follow the agricultural work, walk along the property, or just relax in the garden expecting to see the sunset over the sea.

Boat trips, snorkelling, or bird-watching, are complementary activities that can easily be provided to the guests during their stay at Fajã dos Padres.

Guests may freely use the access through the panoramic lift during normal operating hours. Access by lift outside of this normal operating time should be previously arranged.
