Colina da Fajã, Country House, is located in one of the most charming and rural places in Madeira Island, this country side accommodation is very well located in Calheta area, on the south west coast, with a outstanding view over Fajã da Ovelha Mountains and the blue from the Atlantic in horizon.

Rebuild it in spring 2007, Colina da Fajã maintains the local architectural character and environment of a typical country side Madeira house. Offering natural hospitality and comfort, here you will find great relaxing moments to enjoy your holidays.

Furnished with traditional double beds and ceiling of wooden beams, the nine rooms have all a private bathroom, central heating, satellite tv, free Internet and phone. Besides the surroundings gardens and the pine forest, this traditional Madeira house from the beginning of the XX century, also have a games room, a reading room with a fireplace, an outdoor heated swimming poll, and a barbecue.

A large buffet breakfast is prepared with fresh and local ingredients. Guests are welcome after breakfast to cook their meals in our fully equipped and communal kitchen.

The hotel also has an honesty bar where guests can enjoy regional wines and homemade liquors.

Colina da Fajã it’s the ideal place for nature lovers and walkers who wish to discover the beauty of Madeira Island trough the “Levadas” (water channels made to transport water from the north to south of the island that allows walker lovers to discover the Madeira from the inside. The “Levada Walks” are walking trails along the maintenance paths beside the Levadas)

How to get there? - Colina da Fajã - Casa de Campo

If you follow this description our hotel should be easy to find. It is located in Fajã da Ovelha.

For the first time, you will take from the airport to the hotel 1hour and 20minutes.

At the airport, take the "Via Rapida" (dual carriageway) towards Ribeira Brava. In Ribeira Brava you will find a roundabout. Take the direction of Ponta do Sol (through a tunnel).

At the next roundabout take the direction of Madalena do Mar, the road leads again through a tunnel. Pass through Madalena do Mar until you arrive at another roundabout where you will have the following choices: Lombo do Doutor, Calheta center (a point in a circle), Estrela, Prazeres and Fajã da Ovelha.

Take the direction of Fajã da Ovelha. From here it’s 20 minutes more until Colina da Fajã. After 2 tunnels, you will see an exit, indicating Paul do Mar, Jardim do Mar and Estr. Calheta, just ignore and go forward.

Again after two tunnels you will find another roundabout, take the first exit, Fajã da Ovelha. You will pass trough Prazeres, stay forward until the end of the “Via Rapida” were you will find the last roundabout.

Take the first exit and then turn left to Fajã da Ovelha. Now you are in the regional road, and you will find more curves. After 5 minutes driving you will find a crossing indicating to the left Fajã da Ovelha, Paul do Mar and Jardim do Mar, don’t turn left, stay forward. Only 9 more curves and you will find at you left side a plaque indicating Colina da Fajã.
