Casa Rosário Coelho is situated in Serra de Fora, in the south-east of the island of Porto Santo.
It was built in 1837 and renovated in 1993/95, according to the original style.
It consists of 4 charming holiday houses completely equipped, surrounded by spacious gardens, that offers you an extraordinary sense of peace and quiet. At this propriety, there is also an interesting display area with various old pieces and some agricultural equipment, that are part of the history of Porto Santo and the costumes of the locals.
A climb up to Pico dos Maçaricos, which is part of the same property, will allow you to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the whole island of Porto Santo.
About 800 m away you find Porto dos Frades, with five small beaches of crystal-clear water that will invite you to pleasant bathing!

Location
By Boat
Exit at Porto de Abrigo, go through Estrada Jorge de Freitas, you will find a roundabout where you will find the Aeroporto (airport) road sign. Follow that direction, until you arrive at a crossroads and go up the main road on your right. Always in that direction, you will go through Sítio das Casinhas. There, you will pass close to Capela da Graça and Miradouro da Portela, and then go down all the way to Serra de Fora. Only when you find the “Porto dos Frades” road sign you will leave the main road and turn right. Go straight ahead for about 500 metres. On your right you will find Casa Rosário Coelho.

By Plane
Leave the Airport and follow the north-south (Norte-Sul) direction, you will find a roundabout, but you will keep on to the same road, until you find another roundabout, where you will leave the main road. Turn left, go across the forestal services until you arrive at a crossroads. Go straight ahead until you find a second crossroads, where you will turn left. There you will be on the Serra road, which will go through Casinhas. There, you will pass close to Capela da Graça and Miradouro da Portela, and then go down all the way to Serra de Fora. Only when you find the “Porto dos Frades” road sign you will leave the main road and turn right. Go straight ahead for about 500 metres. Also on your right, you will find Casa Rosário Coelho.

Casa Rosario Coelho - Porto Santo
Lovely house and garden, in a quiet corner of a quiet island. We hired a car, so were at the big beach within 10 minutes, but the sea is only a 15 minute walk along the road from the house, and the Porto dos Fradres restaurant is excellent.
