The House “Casa da Piedade” gets its name from the lady that last lived in it. It was built in the 18 th century, restored in 1994 with cara to maintain its old look, and, at the same time, have modern facilities for guests during their stay.
It is situated about 25 minutes walk to the sea, less time to Vila and to the caves, and is a departure to other country walks.

How to get there
To get to São Vicente from Funchal, you have to take the freeway towards Ribeira Brava. After exiting in Ribeira Brava, you have to climb up and continue the route, following the signs. You will pass by Serra de Água, and then there is a tunnel which leads to São Vicente. Exiting in São Vicente, go all the way down to the city centre. Then, you will pass in a roundabout and exit in the first road on your right. Further on, there is another roundabout which you will pass and exit in the first road on your right (sign Grutas de São Vicente). Go straight ahead (do not drive up on the right) and about 50 meters wou will be in Casa da Piedade (on your right side).
